STEM Connections

As a team, we have spoken to many STEM professionals such as:

Dr. Kourennyi – Dr. K was a professor at Case Western, He spoke to us about manufacturing using laser cutting and CNC routers.

John C – An Electrical Engineer from Case Western helped troubleshoot and resolve our ESD issues.

Michael H – who shared insights on the OctoQuad odometry sensor and movement libraries.

Charlie Bogard – He taught us the significance of computer vision and multithreading.

Tyler H – An engineering student machinist, contributed by creating carbon fiber parts.

Tyler Thieding – An engineer at Rockwell, discussed the robot design process.

Joe Vernel – An aerospace engineer, covered topics on testing, CAD designing, and iteration.

James Pilot – A Stanford programmer, explained how FIRST supports career opportunities.

Hadley Arch – An engineering student, detailed the use of threaded and heated inserts.

Adam Iglesias – An aerospace engineer, highlighted the importance of using CAD.

Thomas S – A mechanical engineer, shared knowledge about tolerances and material selection.

Mike Berendt – A mechanical engineer, he reviewed our CAD and recommended we use herringbone gears.

Ryan Wood – He is a Chief Program Officer at JFSA Cleveland and taught us to use Monday.com efficiently.

Jason Turnidge – A Design Director at Rustbelt Reclamation and an architecture professor at Kent State. He went over CNC and 3D printing.

Malakai S – An engineer at Rockwell Automation spoke on belt resistance.

Dr.Kourennyi – A former professor at Case Western spoke to us about manufacturing using laser cutting and CNC routers

We also collaborated with numerous companies in the STEM field, including:

RPGatta – An engineering firm in Aurora gave us a tour of their workspace and shared their insights on rapid prototyping

Parker Hannafin – We spoke about fundraising and got a plant tour and they generously provided us with a $10,000 recurring grant.

Polymaker – We spoke to them about 3D printing and they generously provided us 200 dollars worth of engineering grade filaments.

Aurora Plastics – We reached out to Aurora Plastics and spoke to them about injection molding.

General Motors – We reached out to General Motors about touring their facility and sponsorship opportunities

McMaster-Carr – We spoke to them about the types of shafts and their properties, helping us make the right choice for our current design.
